LIV Golf Format Explained
The LIV Golf Tour has a few key differences from the PGA Tour and other golf events.
For starters, each tournament lasts three days instead of four, and features a shotgun start. Every player plays one round (18 holes) a day.
The 2023 LIV season has 12 teams with four players each. There are two ways to win a LIV Golf tournament: As an individual, and as a team. At the end of the season, the player and teams with the most points will be declared champions.
Each player gets points based on where they finish at a tournament — a first-place finish gives a player 40 points while coming in 24th will earn them one point.
Teams also receive points based on the cumulative scores of their players, with the best-performing team receiving 32 points, and teams finishing 9th or below getting zero points.
